An overview of a mainstream junior school’s approach to meeting the needs of vulnerable children who suffer from low self-esteem and are at risk of disengaging from education through either/both absence from class or school. The approach provides an overview of the school’s adaptations for core subjects alongside provision of additional wider opportunities that motivate and inspire pupils. Examples include bespoke projects (related to belonging), OT, small group karate, nurture baking and lunchtime provision. The session will include both challenges, lessons learnt and impact.
